Welcome to Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter, Home of the Tigers!

Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter (SOEC) is a neighborhood affiliated charter school serving approximately 700 students in grades TK – Fifth grade who live within our local school boundaries and those non-resident students selected from our district wait-list lottery. Our student body is ethnically, racially, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse.  At, SOEC we embrace diversity and believe that every student has the potential to meet or exceed academic standards.

Our mission is to provide a safe, inspiring, and engaging learning environment that will cultivate responsible, lifelong learners who are prepared to meet the needs of an ever changing and culturally diverse world.

We want to encourage all parents to participate in our organized parent groups like, Governance Council, Sherman Oaks Parent Association (SOPA), and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Your voice, time, ideas, etc. are needed in our community, and help to ensure a successful year for our scholars.

We welcome you to participate at our school. The most needed and easiest way to participate is through our Volunteer Program and SOPA. Please complete a volunteer application https://achieve.lausd.net/Page/10443 In addition, join us for regularly scheduled events like, Coffee with the Principal, monthly SOPA meetings, Walking Wednesday’s (once a week where parents, students, and staff participate in a morning walk around the track), SOPA events, and much more.

Throughout the year, we want you to stay informed about school activities. Please be sure to check the school’s calendar, on the school website at shermanoakselementarycharter.com or the Tiger Timeline on parent square, listen to the Sunday evening announcements for upcoming weekly events, and communication from your classroom teacher along with our parent organization.

Again, it is our vision to ensure that all students reach their maximum potential through academics, social emotional development, and diverse enrichment programs. We build a model of excellence through an engaging curriculum that develops and advances best practices for students and parents while promoting educational excellence, collaboration, and innovation.

TOGETHER, through collaboration, instructional excellence, innovation and creative partnerships, the SOEC community will engage the GENIUS in all of our students and create a culture of care!

Go TIGERS!!!!
