BIRTHDAY/CLASSROOM CELEBRATIONS

CLASSROOM BIRTHDAY PARTIES ARE NOT ALLOWED.  WE DO NOT TAKE INSTRUCTIONAL MINUTES AWAY FROM OUR STUDENTS FOR BIRTHDAY PARTIES.

LAUSD does not allow the service of food of any kind inside the school except that which is served by our school cafeteria. Please do not bring cupcakes or sweets for your child’s class as they are not allowed. Instead of a party you can donate a book to your child’s classroom library, pencils, stickers, etc. (For other ideas ask the classroom teacher)

a) Effective July 1, 2014, the USDA Smart Snacks in School Rule mandates that any national school district ensure that foods and beverages sold or served to students at District Schools meet federal, state, local, and school board nutritional standards and policies. All foods during the school day must be on the LAUSD Approved List of Snack Foods and Beverages.

CLASSROOM CELEBRATIONS (I.E. SOCIAL STUDIES FOCUS UNIT, MULTICULTURAL CELEBRATIONS, END-OF-YEAR, ETC.)

Parents are encouraged to support our district's nutrition program when selecting snacks which they may donate for classroom celebrations, and by limiting foods or beverages that do not meet nutritional standards to no more than one food or beverage per party. Two classroom celebrations are permitted per year.
