good morning parents family and friends I am honored to have this chance to add and our fifth grade students today is one of those great occasions when we get to celebrate our young people there achievements their perseverance and of course their successes is one of the precious time in life that we can take a break and reflect feeling good as a parent or a teacher knowing that the kids that we care about are doing just fine and that they're on the right path students looking back at your time at Sherman Oaks I think of all the things that entered your life that were never in mine things like the iPhone iPad laptop Apple watch and Twitter just to mention a few and doing your life some of the most amazing innovations that happened just a few days ago two astronauts were sent up to space marking the first time a privately-funded space program teamed with NASA on such an important endeavor I'm excited to think of what you will create in your next year's and how the things that you do will inspire and change the world this year we were faced with an unprecedented situation covid-19 this resulted in changing our day-to-day schooling distance learning zooming and social distancing all became the new Norm this situation was unique because I do and students are having to learn together this has taught as one of the most important lessons this year perseverance My Hope Is that you remember that with perseverance a good attitude and teamwork Anything is Possible parents we want to thank you for bringing your children to our school and trusting us with them everyday I especially want to thank you for raising the amazing group of students that stand before us parents being involved in their own child's life leads them to more opportunities for success and this group of students has shown so many positive qualities we know that this all starts at home students you should know that your parents are very proud of you today they have high hopes for you and they believe in you and you are making them Proud by knowing what you can do take a look at them now and you can see them smiling with pride today is an important day for them and of course for you to you know me and mrs. Matthews in our words of wisdom right mrs. Matthews and principal Miller would like to request that is you prepare for the next phase in your life Middle School that you do a few things first I asked you to commit to making your upcoming upgrade year even better than this year remember that you don't have to follow the crowd do the right thing even is no one is looking study hard and remember that you're investing in yourself with every is that you take and every book you read and finally don't be in too big of a hurry to grow up these are some great times in your life and don't rush ask them so the fifth grade teachers Miss gersbach Brighton Miss Linton and Miss princi on behalf of everybody here I want to thank you for your hard work dedication kindness and care for your students and taking time to see the positive in each student as whole people and not as numbers on exams it is because of your belief that we have seen our students Blossom and continue to grow in so many ways teaching is quite challenging but you all make it look so easy and fun to our 5th grade teaching assistants mr. sun abadilla and Miss Cho thank you for your work your students and your support for their teachers and of course to our support staff that have been instrumental in your education is Kramer Miss binko Miss Williams Miss racy mrs. Ryan miss Monica Mister gown mr. Garcia Miss Deanna Miss woods and Miss Venegas thank you all for instilling a love of the Art & Science end-of-course to miss Gordon long-time volunteer thank you for validating that reading is vital to our students future to parents congratulations to all of you too you have been and will continue to be an integral. your child's schooling realistic expectations support and love will ensure continued success for your children and now I'll leave you with this final quote from a great author with play Imagine you all are familiar his name is Doctor Seuss you have brains in your head you have feet in your shoes you can steer yourself in any direction you choose you're on your own and you know what you know you are the person who decide where to go with something to think about this is principal Miller make it a great life the choice is yours congratulations again David 5th grade memory is when I ran for student council treasurer I became a student of the month fifth grade was being with my friends astrocamp Builders and ask her again Asheville cab and when we got home and getting to go to Ashton camp with all my all my teachers and Friends spend the night away from home and with our friends amazing trip we took to the Griffith Observatory at because I got to hang out with my friends I'm going to bed space my classmates and I got to go to Astro camp and we got to learn an entirely new environment Griffin Observatory and Astro Camp to learn about scientific astrology why rockets at Asharoken going to the Griffith Observatory and he's going to ask your pants to a stroke every single detail about it. Dasher can't complain. long division after camp and the maze at the Halloween Carnival zip lining at Astro camp meeting teacher and making new friends cavities in astrocamp and I also like getting to hang out with all my friends and the dorm rooms and during the three years before quarantine African did you give a toy into miles because that's so much fun I face my fear for me me the tiles the Halloween clock if it's Observatory and not only that I love my teachers by teachers are very amazing and I'm really going to miss 5th grade thank you Estelle for the fun times you've given me amazing and the best time ever good morning Steven this year has been filled with academics some disappointment exhilarations and certainly some challenges I want to deal with each situation differently and seen you grow both intellectual and is caring human being we work together as a team this year helping one another reach our common goals and knowing that this is what you take with you is you are on your way to Middle School makes us so proud because the gray part of what you will be as an adult began right here you have so many unbelievable Adventures ahead of you so see those offered and learn from them everyday urh special know it or leave it and develop your individuality with pride it is truly been an honor watching you grow this year so it gives me great joy to present the culminating class of them you know all the planes we flew good things we've been through this right here talkin to you about another tab I know we love to hit the road and Flatbush show me dad to put in last had to switch up look at things different see the bigger picture those were the days hard work forever pays now I see you win the better place call Jeremy Wood family. A week I knew you were standing there by my side Pursuit boat go away in the Bible and one brother who comes first in the Bible never be crossed the devil stood on her own when that line has to be drawn this what we re so remember me when I'm gone we got everything I went through you were standing there by my side and now you going to be with me for the last time good morning I miss my son from today is June 9th 2020 and you Room 5 the culminating class of 2020 or being promoted what is that mean you're moving on your starting a new Journey fifth grade into Middle School you're ready you're culminating I watched you grow I watched immature I've watched you become frustrated and work through the frustration I've watched you meet Newton I'm just had on and for all of that I am so proud of you I hope that you take with you for many memories that you've made at Sherman Oaks Elementary you had many Rich experiences you've had a lot of lessons that message about life lessons about school lessons about yourself and you porch so many friendships and I hope you have forever as you leave Sherman Oaks may you continue shiny things knowing that even if you fail that was tenacity and with perseverance you can and will succeed I congratulate you and again know that I am so proud of you and know that you will always be in my heart and you better come back and visit and now I introduce to you the culminating class to Room 5 if you ever find yourself if you ever find it call Debbie UK baby dolls besides Funko Pop prison UK I guess that's what friends are supposed to do today is the day most of you have been looking forward to it may not be exactly how you fix it but don't let that take away from what today means today is a milestone that marks the end of the first chapter in your education it's a reminder of all the roads you have Mason Cedar Garden and all the girls you have made as a person today I want you to reflect on how you will be remembered here at Sherman Oaks Elementary Charter and how you want to embark on this next chapter in your life what is a fresh start in the new beginning one that will be filled with many challenges and triumphs enjoy every good time in embrace the challenges as opportunities to grow you have all made my fur sost such a memorable one The Memories We Share the relationships we have established and the experiences we have created our unique and special to us I can't imagine I will never have another class at whose name is Steve is a plastic ball with an alien face who lives in a plastic cup Steve represents the creative ideas the collaborative communities in the friendships we share with one Steve represents that it's okay to be weird and fact to be weird means we are unique we are different and we are not afraid to be Who We Are from day one I've been proud every day you came to school ready to learn ready to grow and ready to challenge yourself maybe not every day but most days I have learned from everyone of you because you eat free so much to the table in your own way never be afraid to be you and express your ideas and opinions while we are all part of the community don't let anyone Define you or put you in a box be bold be you and go after what you want in life that's up to you nobody can do that for you you have the power every day to make someone smile make their day and spread goodness and kindness in the world do you want to inspire me and make me believe in a future that is very bright thank you for being you and sharing your perspective of the world with me now presenting the 2020 culminating class of room 6 my culminating students in the room 11 we have spent the last three years together we have learned together we can talk one another and we have shared many memorable moments as you grow older remember to listen carefully score of the world around you and make wise decisions as you venture forth and going to middle keep in mind that you will have to become more and more and more independent when faced with a choice think before you act and considering the possible outcomes before you decide this year has taught us anything it should help a toddler's does things outside our control contain Charles lights in ways we can't possibly accept imagine or planned for it might seem that even sometimes our lives are about luck remember the right word at the right time right place you will create your own book congratulations I will miss you very much may you have auspiciousness and causes of success may you have the confidence to always do your best to take no effort can you be in general may you know the meaning of the word happiness has deemed it may you get to rest catch your breath free pads maybe it's fascinating as a slap bracelet may you get a gold star on your neck infinite possible ways are you going to head have it all YouTube Civil War he still healthy have it all is Megan Mullally YouTube
